Cottage Den Makeover

When we downsized and moved to our little cottage, we brought with us and used furniture that would fit in the house, and not look completely hideous.  Emphasis on completely.

This room got the 20 year old floral sofa, and the huge oversized chair and ottoman.   After living with the practically completely hideous set up for a year and a half, I was thrilled to find this white slip covered sofa at Rooms To Go.  And this small Italian leather chair.  The sofa even came with my choice of accent pillows.  I just couldn't pass on the grey leopard print!

I was determined to find a place to use my vintage lockers.

I painted the floor Annie Sloan Graphite.

I'm a recovering rooster collector :)  But when I saw the red/blue color combo on this one at Home Goods, I knew it had to go in this room.

The rug came with me from the farmhouse.  It was currently inside my front door entrance.  Since we spend much of our down time in this room (with the TV), I was glad to use things in here that I enjoy seeing.

The Cottage Kitchen

Just sharing a few photos of the cottage kitchen.

We added new appliances.  The other changes made are those that can be accomplished with paint and a few accessories.

The biggest change I'd love to make is this sink!  Unfortunately that will require changing the counter tops.

Our little cottage was built in 1955 and we've lived here about a year and half.

The hardwood floor was in fairly rough shape so I painted it with Annie Sloan French Linen paint.  It's been over a year and the paint has held up very well.

I recently painted the den floor in Annie Sloan Graphite and hope to get some photos up soon.
