A Request

The hymnal wreaths have been popular this week.  We sold one at the store on Saturday, and 2 more by special orders since then.  The picture above is one I made from a 1958 hymnal.  The pages are a beautiful antiqued yellow.  This wreath was made for a customer that is giving it to her music minister brother and his family as a housewarming gift next week.  The bad news?  We're almost out of hymnal pages.   So here is where the request comes in.  We would greatly, greatly appreciate any tips on where to buy some vintage hymnals or sheet music.  If anyone reading this has some they would like to sell, please send us an email at TwoVintageSisters@yahoo.com

And, on the subject of selling.  If there are any local readers (in the Nashville area or surrounding counties) that have vintage furniture or household items they would be interested in selling we would love to hear from you.  Pam and I started our little business this summer without much (okay, any) real planning.  We've spent many Saturday mornings at estate and yard sales, and many evenings on Craigslist.  With cold winter at our door, our buying opportunities are dropping with the temperatures.   We really appreciate your interest and support!

A Peek In Our Store

We had open house at the antique store today. Seems like a certain color blue and silhouettes are loved by many. The blue side table we finished last weekend was only in the store 3 days before finding a home.  And the silhouette ticking pillow?  It only stayed around a few hours.  We hope to have more of the pillows by Thanksgiving weekend.

Under all these goodies is an Amish made farm table.

The sparkling cider was incredible! Especially the cranberry.

We're excited about some upcoming changes at the Willow's Nest, including expanded store hours.  For now, the store is open Thursday - Saturday 10 -  5.  Hopefully by the end of the month this will change to Monday - Saturday.  Until then, we can meet you by appointment outside the current hours.  Just email us with any questions.

Experimenting In Black And White

I just adore black and white, together or alone, and all the shades of gray in between.  I've been wanting to experiment with some ticking and images but haven't had the time.  The biggest challenge for us is too many ideas and too little time.

This wreath has also been on my mental "to do" list.  The number "3" is metal, tied with black and white gingham ribbon.  The shutter behind the wreath is hand made by my husband.  We also have one made of cedar.

These items will be in our store for Open House this weekend.  We can take custom orders for the pillows.

Flour Sack Towels

"Tea" Towels

We've had some requests for pictures of our new flour sack towels.    These towels are washed and dried to pre-shrink and soften them.  The designs are vintage images that have been transferred onto the towels and heat set.  These towels are made to look vintage.

This is one of our Christmas designs.  We will add more a little later.

This is just a sample of the designs we have.  The towels are $8 each or 2 for $15.  If you have any requests for certain categories of images just email us and we will see if we can come up with something.

A New Silhouette Piece

This was one of our projects this week.

This piece is an offspring of a vintage dressing table we had at the flea market.   The blue is much better in person.

This is a very old nightstand.  It would also make a great side table and has great room below for a basket, books or magazines.

This piece is headed to the store in a few days.  It's hard to part with most of the things we make, but we figure it should be that way.  It means we are staying true to what we love to do.
